Audubon Park Perspectives, a complement to the Audubon Park Historic District website, comprises neighborhood news, musings on Audubon Park’s colorful history, and reflections on the constant intersection of past and present in a vibrant neighborhood that has proudly borne the Landmark Preservation Commission’s official historic district designation since 2009.

The Audubon Park Alliance is a coalition of neighbors in the Audubon Park Historic District, whose mission is to beautify public spaces, advocate for clean and safe streets, and preserve and promote the neighborhood’s architecture, history, and culture.

Events:

  • Guided walks through the Audubon Park Historic District in cooperation with Municipal Arts Society “Jane’s Walks,” 2017
  • Co-sponsor of the first Harlem Preservation Conference, 2017
  • Numerous presentations in support of expanding the Audubon Park Historic District, 2016/2017
  • Collaboration with the Riverside Oval Association to present author talk and book-signing: The Remarkable Rise of Eliza Jumel, by Margaret A. Oppenheimer, 2017
  • Guided walks through the Audubon Park Historic District for the Historic Districts Council, 2016
  • Co-sponsor of New York City’s “Heritage Rose District”
  • Coordination with multiple realtors to promote “Audubon Park” as a neighborhood in listings and marketing materials

The Audubon Park Alliance provides funding in support of:

  • Audubon Park Guided Walking Tour Guidebooks
  • Audubon Park Perspectives
  • Audubon Park Historic District Signage

Advocacy:

  • Researched and wrote the Request for Evaluation for Expanding the Audubon Park Historic District submitted to the Landmarks Preservation Commission
  • Prepared and delivered multiple presentations to Community Board 12 Land Use Committee in support of expanding the Audubon Park Historic District
  • Coordinated with Historic Districts Council on strategy for promoting the Audubon Park Historic District expansion
  • Lobbied local elected officials and agencies for improved street safety
  • Lobbied local officials and agencies for expanding the historic district
  • Coordinated with the Riverside Oval Association on events and fundraising
  • Co-wrote Request for Evaluation for creating the Audubon Park Historic District, 2000/2003
  • Generated support for Audubon Park Historic District through in-person and online advocacy
